Specialty Doctor Addiction Psychiatry

This post is intended to provide the specialist clinical and professional skills of a Specialty Doctor in Addiction Psychiatry, supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Specialist Doctor in Addiction Psychiatry.
This role serves a progressive, patient-centred, recovery-based addiction service across the Bellshill, Motherwell, and Wishaw localities of Lanarkshire. It involves working with patients who often have backgrounds of deprivation and past psychological trauma. We are seeking a motivated doctor to join this post and assist patients on their road to recovery.
The post-holder would be based at the Airbles Road Centre, Motherwell, and is expected to work closely with multidisciplinary community addiction team staff across Bellshill, Motherwell, and Wishaw, including nursing, social care, occupational therapy, psychology, and medical officers. The role also involves collaboration with the Substance Misuse Nursing Liaison team at University Hospital Wishaw.
Regular joint working with mental health services, social work services, the acute sector (such as medical services and A&E), as well as third sector and peer support services, is expected.
Addiction Psychiatry inpatient care is provided at the University Hospital Wishaw psychiatric unit, under the auspices of the Addiction Psychiatry service. The job plan includes time for non-clinic activities such as CPD, research, and clinical audits.
