Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of Yorkshire's leading acute trusts, serving a population of more than 440,000 across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and the surrounding areas.

Hosting three main hospital sites and a number of additional services, the Trust is one of only five Teaching Hospitals in Yorkshire and trains 25% of all medical students in the region, in addition to 30% of all other healthcare professional students.

A forward-facing Trust employing over 7,000 colleagues, we provide a full range of local hospital services across Doncaster Royal Infirmary in Doncaster, Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop and Montagu Hospital in Mexborough.

In February 2020, the Trust was rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission, an accreditation which applies to the organisation's four hospital sites.

This post will support the delivery of our Dermatology services at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. You will join a team of 6 Consultants, 5 Specialty Drs and Specialist Nurses to provide Dermatology services across our three main sites.

Main duties of the job
  • The successful applicant will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary; however, you will be expected to contribute to the delivery and development of Dermatology services across all Trust sites.
  • To maintain the highest clinical standards in Dermatological conditions.
  • To provide outpatient and minor operative services in Dermatology, including cancer services.
  • To share with colleagues the provision of Dermatology advice to medical and surgical inpatients.
  • To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing, to improve and advance the service.
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department.
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, resident medical and nursing colleagues, and medical students.
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).

Person Specification Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, or equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Must have or be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at time of appointment and continue to hold a License to Practise.
Experience and Achievements
  • Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Dermatology.
  • Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the role.
  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
Practical/Intellectual Skills/Personal Qualities
  • Ability to use IT Systems - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Evidence of innovation.
  • Evidence of continual learning and development.
  • Understands self (strengths and weaknesses) and impact of behaviour on others.
General
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
Audit and Research
  • Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects and the implementation of outcomes.
  • Evidence of knowledge of research methodology.
  • Critical Appraisal Skills.
