About the role

One post based at St Barnabas House, the other split across St Barnabas House and Martlets Hospice.

Join our innovative and enthusiastic multiprofessional team and help deliver our vision for palliative care in our locality. We are looking for 2 experienced doctors to join the Southern Hospice Group medical team on either a substantive or fixed term (for 1 year) basis and will consider applications for both full-time and less than full-time applicants.

St Barnabas House is located in Worthing, West Sussex with its catchment area covering Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield. The organisation's clinical services include a specialist palliative care in-patient unit (10 beds), a 4-bedded unit for patients who fulfil continuing health care fast track criteria, and a busy community specialist palliative care service, which includes a dedicated clinical nurse specialist team, respiratory and heart failure specific services, Hospice at Home team and out-patient clinics. Our Living Well service is aimed at patients with lower intensity needs and we provide well-being services to patients and their informal carers, and a pre- and post-bereavement service.

Martlets Hospice is located in Hove, East Sussex with its catchment area covering Brighton and Hove and the coastal strip up to Newhaven. The organisation's clinical services include a specialist palliative care in-patient unit (8 beds), a 6-bedded unit for patients who fulfil continuing health care fast track criteria, and a busy community specialist palliative care service, which includes a dedicated clinical nurse specialist team, Hospice at Home team and out-patient clinics. They also provide well-being services to patients and their informal carers, and a pre- and post-bereavement service.

We will agree a prospective Job Plan that sets out your full duties and responsibilities, schedule for carrying out your Programmed Activities, managerial responsibilities, accountability arrangements, objectives and supporting resources, with the aim of seamless service provision.

Essential criteria

Applicants must be fully registered and licensed with the GMC.

Minimum 4 years' full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-graduate training, at least 2 years of which (or equivalent part-time) must be as a specialty trainee in a relevant specialty (or equivalent experience and competencies in a relevant specialty such as general practice, care of the elderly medicine, palliative medicine).
