Do you thrive in a challenge-driven and international work environment, and feel excited about designing and engineering optimised reinforced concrete structures? We are hiring a Structural Engineer to join our growing team of 30+ talented colleagues representing more than 20 nationalities.
You will report to our Chief of Engineering and bring your creativity, curiosity, and deep understanding of structural principles to life. Your designs will be printed, mechanically tested, and installed underground, setting new standards in the industry.
We are looking for a candidate with expertise in reinforced concrete structures, strong proficiency in Eurocodes (EN1992, EN1997, etc.) and at least 5 years of industry experience. In addition to that, we are seeking a collaborative team player who excels in detailed calculations, effectively communicates complex engineering concepts and has a passion for building structures. As a person, we hope that you are open-minded, independent and are not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Location and travel:
The role is permanent and full-time. If you are based in Finland or another country in the European Union, you can apply for the role based at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland, and work in hybrid mode.
We will open a new factory in the United Kingdom in autumn 2025 and invite candidates based in the UK to apply. Working in the UK is possible on-site or remotely. Ideally you are located 2-3 hours away from Sheffield in order to reach the factory on a short notice (next day) if needed.
What you will do:
Develop the structural design of 3D printed reinforced structures
Prepare calculation reports to Eurocodes for underground structures (buoyancy, crack width calculation, reinforcement calculation, etc.)
Meet with the client's technical team, understand their requirements, discuss technical data
Design structural testing methodology and execute the testing of full 1-1 scale printed samples
Review engineering drawings and codes sent by clients and identify compliance with Hyperion's structures
Share your designs with our production team in the form of standard reports and in-person briefings to incorporate any feedback and ensure flawless execution of the designs
Occasional quality control and inspection of concrete elements at the factory in Finland or United Kingdom (depending where you are based)
Who we are looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
Minimum 5 years work experience as a Structural or Civil Engineer, including min. 3 months on a construction site inspecting concrete structures
Fluent in using Structural Analysis software (FEM modeling)
Experienced in creating design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
Proficient verbal and written English language skills, both verbal and written including technical English relevant to the industry
Able to explain complex work in a simple way to customers or colleagues in written, drawn or verbal communication
Independent as well as detailed-oriented working style - you enjoy diving into the design codes and writing calculation reports
Beneficial skills:
Working knowledge in using of GSA or similar FEM analysis software
Fluent in Rhino3D and Grashopper with great 3D modeling and geometry skills
