The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesFrom your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
The purpose of the role is to work as part of a team processing pay for c.4,000 Surrey Police Officers and Staff on a monthly basis. To provide expert advice and guidance to a range of payroll queries. Ensuring that all payment of salaries, allowances and expenses are in line with the current statutory and legislative requirements as well as Police Regulations and Surrey Police terms and conditions.
To be successful in your application you will hold a formal qualification and have considerable experience of working in a payroll department, prioritising conflicting demands and responding appropriately to queries. You will be proficient in the use of payroll software (preferably EPayfact) and Microsoft office, especially Excel.
Skills & Experience- Demonstrate substantial experience in a Payroll environment, and an understanding of the principles, practices, and legislation requirements.
- Good analytical skills for analysing data relating to individuals pay, pensions and employment history.
- Significant experience in dealing with customers at all levels. Techniques for dealing effectively with customers, in person and over the telephone. The ability to build a good rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good IT skills with particular focus on spreadsheets. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Flexibility and ability to learn new IT systems where required. Microsoft Business essential (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience of supervision and can demonstrate an ability to prioritise and delegate where appropriate.
