Role Overview - IVVQ Engineer

As our business grows, we have multiple opportunities for IVVQ Engineers. Each successful candidate will join our team at the Thales UK Belfast site and may spend periods at customer sites and integration facilities, depending on specific projects. You'll possess a mix of conceptual and detailed design experience, integration and delivery skills, and a proven track record of delivering system programmes.

Responsibilities:
  • Support technical leadership during bid and project Engineering Reviews.
  • Identify and review technical risks, opportunities, and mitigation plans throughout bid and project phases.
  • Assist in creating technical specifications with acceptance criteria for systems and subsystems.
  • Define integration, verification, validation, qualification, certification, and acceptance methods.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements and standards for product safety, security, and environmental compliance are met.
  • Collaborate with Specialty Engineering experts and Safety/HSE stakeholders to ensure solutions meet contractual, regulatory, and certification standards.
Role Requirements:
  • Support technical leadership for bid and project Engineering Reviews.
  • Identify and review technical risks, opportunities and create mitigation plans.
  • Assist in creating technical specifications with acceptance criteria for systems and subsystems.
  • Define integration, verification, validation, qualification, certification, and acceptance methods.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and legislation, including product safety, security, and environmental/HSE requirements.
Primary Purpose of the Role:

You will undertake both front-end lifecycle System Requirements tasks and back-end Integration, Verification, and Validation activities across multiple projects at various stages of the lifecycle.

Principal Relationships:

Work closely with all members of the Bid/Product/Project team, including the Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM), PDA, Architect, and Systems Engineers, as well as potentially the customer and end-user communities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Capture and manage requirements: Identify customer and end-user needs and distil into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Manage derivation and flow-down of lower-level requirements.
  • Develop integration strategy: Derive a risk-based integration strategy to address highest technical risks early.
  • Conduct System and Subsystem verification activities.
  • Write and review System and Subsystem verification reports.
  • Write, review, and execute Integration test scripts.
  • Support the establishment of automated testing on projects.
Skills:
  • Good working knowledge of DOORS for requirements management and data capture.
  • Familiarity with Design tools (e.g., Rhapsody) and test tools (especially automated test tools).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific, or Engineering subject, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present and explain technical and complex problems.
  • Understanding of System Engineering and System Engineering Processes and Practices, including Systems Lifecycles.
  • Ability to work with combinations of technologies, integrating and verifying them logically to satisfy customer requirements.
  • PC literate: Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Experience with requirements capture and management (e.g., in DOORS), or system architectural modelling or simulation (e.g., in MatLab or Simulink) preferred but not essential.
Special Requirements:

Ability to travel in the UK and internationally if required.
