Job Description

Bennett & Game are delighted to be partnering with a highly experienced and reputable accountancy practice based in Grays, as they look to recruit a new Tax Manager. This medium-sized practice has 3 different locations and 5 partners. They boast a very high staff retention rate, and this position has become available due to a retirement. They are offering a competitive salary depending on experience from £65k-80k per annum, hybrid working, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, business travel, auto pension enrolment, and sick pay of 20 days.

This firm is consistently looking to grow and expand its operations, and they can provide a range of progression and development opportunities to an ambitious tax manager.

You will be managing an extensive portfolio of 300-350 personal tax returns and other ad hoc tax advice for clients, while playing a vital part in developing and increasing the firm's reach and expanding the portfolio.

Responsibilities:
  • Tax Compliance - Reviewing and managing corporation tax returns, personal tax returns, and other tax filings prepared by the team, ensuring all submissions are accurate and compliant.
  • Tax Advisory - Provide tailored tax planning advice to clients, advising them on the implications of tax changes and opportunities for tax efficiency.
  • Client Relations - Managing a portfolio of clients across different industries, attending client meetings, visiting clients, and acting as the main point of contact for any tax-related queries.
  • Technical Expertise - Staying current with changes in tax legislation and regulations.
  • Risk Management - Identify and mitigate tax risks for clients.
  • Tax Planning - Developing and implementing tax planning strategies.
  • Team Leadership - Supervise and mentor junior staff, ensuring their development and progression, and directing the team towards company targets and goals.
  • Collaboration - Working closely with other departments, including accounts and audit teams.
  • Strategy and Business Development - Identify and implement opportunities to improve the firm's tax services and develop the portfolio.
Minimum Requirements:
  • CTA qualified, with ideally 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working within tax in a practice environment, with an excellent understanding of personal tax and corporate tax.
  • Personal tax expert.
  • Minimum of 5 years accountancy practice experience.
  • UK Citizen with no requirement for sponsorship.
  • Able to commute to Grays office.
  • Well-spoken, polite, professional, personable, and ambitious individual required.
