Bloomberg Index Services Ltd (BISL) is a leading global provider of index solutions. Bloomberg offers a broad and evolving suite of industry-flagship and bespoke indices for benchmarking, asset allocation, customisation and product creation leveraging the unparalleled power of Bloomberg data and research. Indices are available across multiple asset classes including Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Currency, Interest Rates, Multi-Asset Strategies, and Alternatives as well as Thematics, Climate and ESG with full integration with the Bloomberg terminal.

As a Team Leader in Index Data and Projects, you will be overseeing a group of index analysts focusing on the management of data for use in regulated benchmarks administered by Bloomberg Index Services Ltd (BISL). You will be working with new and existing, varied and complex data sets to contribute towards building a Golden Source repository of data for use in indices.

We'll trust you to:

  1. Manage a team of individuals responsible for the daily production processes for the acquisition and quality control of all datasets.
  2. Work alongside business stakeholders to develop data assessment frameworks, data management best practices and policies.
  3. Collaborate globally with internal stakeholders, such as Product, Sales, and Engineering, to help ensure BISL is meeting the needs of its clients.
  4. Drive projects to rationalize, cleanse or migrate existing data sets.
  5. Create proposals for derived data sets and overlays in accordance with requirements of BISL proprietary benchmark methodologies.
  6. Oversee the onboarding of data, implementing index data quality assurance processes for operational and index back-testing requirements and to satisfy BISL's data sufficiency and control framework obligations under UK BMR regulation.
  7. Design and operate business intelligence processes to assess the ongoing health and functioning of our data environment and manage any subsequent coordination with internal and external data providers.
  8. Demonstrate strong domain knowledge in systematic data analysis and the ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary and regional teams.

You'll need to have:

Please note we use years of experience as a guide but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

  1. 3+ years of direct or indirect leadership experience - eg leading projects, mentoring people, etc.
  2. 3+ years of work experience in the financial services industry, including exchanges, market data providers or financial institutions.
  3. Experience in data management principles and technologies - data modelling, data analysis, statistics, and data integration.
  4. Effective local and remote team management (talent development, evaluations, hiring, training, oversight of performance and competence).
  5. Project management - planning, stakeholder, tracking, PI or other delivery process.
  6. Experience in, and conceptual understanding of, managing and analysing large and complex data sets (assessment, QC checks & overrides, third party management, due diligence).
  7. Experience of devising and implementing standards, guidelines, and policy for data.
  8. Solid understanding and experience in databases & database technologies and scripting & tooling for efficient interrogation.
  9. Knowledge of indices, index regulation or systematic products.
  10. Translation of research and analysis into implementable technical requirements and specifications.
  11. Ability to drive and oversee multiple parallel projects and deadlines.

We'd love to see:

  1. Python or other useful programming knowledge (for data manipulation).
  2. Understanding the role of and requirements of a Production/Operations team (index or IT).
