BYD UK is the UK distributor of BYD Company Ltd which is a China-based company and a global leading-edge provider of green energy technologies. BYD UK offers a range of electric vehicles, including all-electric cars, all-electric buses and all-electric forklift trucks. BYD are expanding its UK operations to support a growing portfolio of electric bus projects.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that UK market technical requirements are clearly defined and relevant documents are kept up-to-date and circulated to relevant staff across BYD's global R&D organisation;
  2. Review project timelines and check alignment with market expectations;
  3. Coordinating with R&D on complex technical queries;
  4. In cases where UK-based testing is required, assist in the planning and execution of such tests;
  5. Coordinate with UK partners, legislation compliance agencies and BYD's China-based homologation team to ensure type approvals are in place for UK products;
  6. Manage and maintain new and existing CMS installations;
  7. Other related activities and contingent assignments;
  8. The role reports to the Technical Manager.

Candidate profile:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree, technical background is required
  • At least 5 years' experience in a vehicle engineering environment
  • Proven track record in the transport or automotive industry will be advantageous
  • Good command of English is essential, both written and verbal
  • Able to speak, read and write in Chinese (Mandarin)
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, ability to work under pressure
  • Good team player, able to work in remote teams
  • Proactive and able to anticipate demand
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency, including MS Office and MS Project
  • Able to travel to UK production facilities and occasionally to EU countries and China.
