Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technical Manager to join the Technical Contract Support Team at Thermatic Technical FM.

As a Thermatic Technical Manager, you will provide technical support to defined contract teams, providing technical quotations and delivery of minor works whilst offering technical support and guidance to support the management of contract/s, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently and driving continuous improvement.

Thermatic Technical FM provides complete nationwide coverage, across the full spectrum of Hard FM services to large, commercial clients. Our team of mobile engineers are supported by the account teams at Head Office to provide both reactive breakdown and planned maintenance services to our clients.

Hours & Location of Work:

Main location - Our head office is based in Salford, Manchester. Flexible working is available; however, the role requires office presence and national site visitation as part of the regular working pattern.

Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Behaviours:

  • Minimum 7 years previous experience as either an electrical engineer or Building Services engineer
  • Minimum 3 years as Technical Manager
  • Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition, C&G level 2 or 3.
  • Broad technical knowledge across other disciplines
  • Technical Qualifications (F-Gas/Gas Safe/NICEIC/Building Services)
  • Safety Qualifications (CSCS/IOSH/NEBOSH/Risk Assessment)
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services would be desirable
  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative approach to working
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Effective time management & task prioritisation

Responsibilities include:

  • Produce technical M&E quotations and assessments while assuring the quality of information received by site engineers for submission to the clients.
  • Manage the delivery and safety of quoted works within your client base, end to end, with the support of contract administration staff.
  • Drive Minor Works through existing infrastructure to facilitate delivery and completion of Minor Works throughout the assigned accounts.
  • Review WIP reports across client base to identify and produce quotes for our customers on M&E work.
  • Work alongside our Projects department delivering smaller scale works and supporting on bigger projects when needed.
  • Identify opportunities with processes, providing solutions to drive continuous improvements.
  • Review client portals, highlighting any concerns or opportunities, manage non-compliance across your team.
  • Confirm booking of works with customer prior to the work being undertaken.
  • Work alongside compliance & HSE managers to deliver centralised solutions of equal quality across all sectors ensuring quality is maintained.
  • Seasonal workload identification and assisting with resource scheduling team.
  • Ensure current supply chain are fit for purpose to maximise efficiency on return jobs.
  • Identify failure points on client sites and proactively producing quotations for such.
  • Review mitigation report to understand why jobs are not profitable, identifying opportunities and managing improvements.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships; past, current, and future and have an in-depth understanding of customer needs and expectations.
  • Work with the central engineering team to enforce NICEIC compliance by running reports and highlighting non-compliant engineers/clients.
  • Manage compliance with legislative requirements, e.g., correct certificates are needed and issued on completions on jobs.
