Job Description

Ready for a change? Looking for a role that you can develop into? Ready to join a site as it grows? We are looking for someone like you. We're currently recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to be based at our site in Ashington, Near Morpeth. As part of this busy transport operation, you'll ensure the timely and safe dispatch of drivers on a 06:30 to 15:30 shift pattern, Monday to Friday.

Pay, benefits and more:

We're looking to offer a salary of up to £35,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You'll have access to a variety of high street discounts, a salary sacrifice car scheme, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  1. Support the Operations Manager with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations during your shift with a huge emphasis on safety, deputising in their absence.
  2. Assist with executing the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resources available at the site and keep the customer updated.
  3. Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment.
  4. Manage a team of Warehouse operatives and drivers through the nightshift operation.
  5. Ensure the operation is managed safely.
  6. Ensure all staff are trained and following company procedures at all times.
  7. Ensure drivers are dispatched on their allocated time to meet the contract SLA's.
  8. Keep damages to a minimum.
  9. Call breakdown companies for vehicles or trailers.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  1. It's important you have exposure to working in a fast-paced environment - no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet.
  2. Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a complex transport environment.
  3. Proven experience within transport and a good understanding of compliance and driver hours.
  4. Computer literate as you will be answering emails, dispatching drivers, and compiling a handover every morning.
  5. Team building experience.
  6. Experience in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
  7. Some transport experience dealing with C+E drivers would be beneficial.
