Underwriter - Property

Our team of underwriters focus on Property and Special lines across the London Market, ranging from Household, Commercial Property, Flood, Major Property and Alternate Risk. As a high performing, diverse team, we are always looking to challenge ourselves to deliver exceptional underwriting performance and quality.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Property Binders team, contributing to a significant line of business within the London market during favourable trading conditions. You'll be part of dynamic and established lead market, operating across multiple territories. The property Binders team are a lead market that demonstrate lead capabilities throughout. The Role

What you'll be doing in the role

• Underwrite, price and negotiate risks submitted via the box or e-trading systems.
• Establish and maintain relations with brokers, producers and clients.
• Marketing and sales of the Hiscox brand and product offerings, pitching our risk appetite and value proposition.
• Wordings and contract review.
• Market / Industry research.

The Candidate

We are looking for an individual who is highly analytical, driven and detail orientated with a passion for execution. You will need to be articulate and exhibit a track record of good decision-making skills, working under pressure, with an ability to quickly understand problems and create - implement solutions. Underwriting experience is desirable but not a necessity if you can demonstrate an understanding of the nuances involved in pricing and assessing a risk.

Our must haves

• A working knowledge of how to price a risk.
• Good mathematical and analytical skills; the team is heavily involved in catastrophe modelling and actuarial analysis and the individual must be willing to embrace and develop this aspect of underwriting.
• A confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and written.
• A driven individual and effective team worker.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met.
• Progress in ACII examinations or a commitment to complete them.

Nice to have

• Prior experience of underwriting on a delegated basis.
• Prior experience with digital trading methods.
• Educated to degree level or non-graduates with demonstrable relevant experience and excellent A' levels.
