Location: London - Hybrid working available, with a minimum of 2 days in our London office.

Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience + excellent benefit package!

The opportunity

We're looking for an Underwriting Analyst to join an exciting international environment in our Zurich Global Employee Benefits Solutions (ZGEBS) Underwriting team, based in Mark Lane, London.

ZGEBS supports multinational companies in finding the right financing solutions for their global employee benefit plans.

From multinational pooling and captive services to innovative global underwriting programs, we offer multinational companies a holistic approach to risk management and financing solutions, maximizing the value of their global employee benefit plans.

It would be great if you have group Life, Health, or Disability Underwriting experience, but don't worry if you haven't. Your development is important to us, so if you're eager to learn, we will invest in your development. As part of a team of Group Life, Disability, Accident and Group Medical underwriters, you will be involved with underwriting of new and renewal cases, and support the Senior Underwriters. This is a great opportunity to work and learn from Senior Underwriters in the market.

What you will do

  1. Assisting the Underwriting team with collecting and validating renewal information, among other underwriting activities.
  2. Use a disciplined approach to risk assessment of renewal group business.
  3. Support senior underwriters in assessing, monitoring and reporting on major risks.
  4. Work closely with the account managers and the network partners to support them to win and to retain the business in the best interest of ZGEBS and the Customer.
  5. Contribute to the development and maintenance of tools and processes, supporting the underwriting area.
  6. Contribute to the ongoing performance management of the book of business.
  7. Ensuring documentation is executed in line with Zurich guidelines and oversight of movement of money.

What are we looking for?

  1. Strong English communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships to drive business performance.
  2. Additional competency in French or Spanish would be beneficial.
  3. A team player, who enjoys working in a dynamic and multi-cultural organisation.
  4. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  5. Experience in a financial analytical role would be beneficial.
  6. Ability to quickly understand and make use of new technical information in relation to risk assessment.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word, PowerPoint; Excel).
  8. Knowledge of Life, Disability and/or Health insurance or practical experience in the pricing or underwriting of group insurance products would be beneficial but not essential as we will provide training and support.
  9. Currently working towards or happy to obtain qualifications such as CII.
