Role Description

We have a new opportunity for a Underwriting Risk, Governance and Regulation Consultant to join our Pricing and Underwriting team.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that there is effective and efficient governance of policies and procedures in place within Underwriting, that is well understood and respected by all employees, and that Underwriting are complying with all regulatory and Group requirements.

You'll participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Furthermore, for pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a generous study package to enable the actuarial qualification to be obtained through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.

Additionally, we host Lunch and Learn sessions on key business topics hosted by experts across the team and monthly insight sessions, including the Data Science Forum and analyst forum, to refine your technical skills.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £32,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

  • Understands and helps interpret the requirements of regulators and Group, ensuring that all activity is carried out in a compliant way.
  • Provides appropriate and specialist advice on topics within areas of expertise.
  • Maintains a network of contacts on relevant subjects within the UK Company, the wider Allianz group and the UK general insurance market.
  • Provides the relevant reporting/support (as required) for the:
    • Monthly Pricing and Underwriting Forum
    • Quarterly Pricing and Underwriting Committee.
    • Risk and Conduct Forum

We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

  • Experience of General Insurance Underwriting
  • Understanding of relevant UK regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of the risk management cycle
  • Inquisitive mind
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence and motivate Underwriting teams
