VAT Analyst - London

Seeking a VAT Analyst for a 6-month contract within a consumer retail business based in Central London. This is a well-established team that is responsible for VAT compliance across the region as well as providing support to Tax colleagues and the wider business. The role will include accounting and VAT responsibilities including supporting internal and external audits. You will be expected to take ownership of VAT controls and assist with compliance tasks, identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls, and drive positive change across the organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Working within the current EMEA compliance team:
2. Prepare, review and submit UK and Ireland VAT returns and related filings such as EC Sales Listings;
3. Prepare, review and submit Intrastat returns as necessary;
4. Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions;
5. Prepare and submit ESL /ESPL, SAF_T returns as necessary;
6. Preparation and review of month-end account reconciliations;
7. Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis;
8. Assist with mapping VAT processes and identify areas for improvement;
9. Assist with VAT compliance queries from Amazon businesses operating across Europe;

About You:

1. VAT experts (compliance), not financial accountants;
2. Strong accounting/reconciliation skills;
3. Strong Excel skills - pivot, vlookup;
4. Ability to time manage and work autonomously;
5. European VAT experience (compliance);
6. Experience of working in large complex organizations.
