Job Description
Veterinary Referral Clinician - Internal Medicine

We are seeking a dedicated Internal Medicine Clinician to join our team. The successful candidate will manage complex medical cases and helm the growth of our internal medicine service, delivering exceptional veterinary care in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.

The Hospital

Highland Vet Referrals, established in 2014 and moved to purpose-built premises in 2022, is dedicated to providing advanced veterinary services to the North of Scotland and the Western Isles. Our services include soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dermatology, pain management, and advanced imaging. We now offer a 24/7 service with a dedicated night team to manage the overnight case load as well as provide an OOH service to partner practices.

The Role
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of internal medicine cases, including diseases affecting internal organs such as the kidneys, liver, gastrointestinal tract, endocrine glands, lungs, and bone marrow.
  • Perform advanced diagnostic procedures, including ultrasonography, endoscopy, and biopsies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in surgery, dermatology, and pain management to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Engage in client communication, providing clear explanations and compassionate support.
  • Participate in the training and mentorship of junior veterinary staff.
The Location

Inverness is a city with great shopping facilities, cafes, live music venues, restaurants & bars and is home to Eden Court, a theatre hosting musicals, plays, ballet, has its own cinemas and numerous special events such as outdoor music events during the Summer, a thriving creative sector.

The Highlands are renowned for breath-taking scenery and the perfect spot for those with a passion for the outdoors- there are endless opportunities for hiking, mountaineering, wild swimming, camping and paddle boarding with many of our team taking advantage of the outdoors.

Minimum Requirements
  • Veterinary degree recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
  • RCVS registration or eligibility.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (e.g., Certificate, Diploma).
  • Proven experience in managing complex internal medicine cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
