Water Treatment Consultant

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Water Treatment Consultant to provide expert guidance on water treatment processes, ensuring compliance with BG50 and other industry standards. The consultant will be responsible for advising on best practices, performing risk assessments, and developing water treatment strategies for HVAC and building services systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical expertise on water treatment practices in compliance with BG50 guidelines.
2. Conduct site assessments and risk evaluations for water treatment systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
3. Develop and implement water treatment programs for HVAC, closed-loop, and open-loop systems.
4. Perform water sampling, analysis, and interpretation of results to optimize system performance.
5. Identify and mitigate risks associated with corrosion, scaling, and microbial contamination, including Legionella control.
6. Offer recommendations on water treatment chemicals, filtration systems, and dosing equipment.
7. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including BSRIA BG50, ACoP L8, HSG274, and BS 8552.
8. Provide training and support to clients and facility management teams on water treatment best practices.
9. Prepare detailed reports, action plans, and recommendations based on findings and site conditions.
10. Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and facility managers to optimize water treatment solutions.
11. Keep up to date with industry developments and regulatory changes affecting water treatment in buildings.
12. Support water management and consultancy across the business.
13. Support the start-up and execution of water treatment self-perform capabilities.
14. Provide BGIS water management policies and act as a senior custodian of water systems risks/mitigations.
15. Set up and run a water champion program.
16. Ensure BGIS remains up to date on all legislative changes.
17. Act as the water SME within the internal business and ensure all customers' systems meet the standards.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Proven experience in water treatment consultancy, particularly in HVAC and building services.
3. Strong knowledge of BG50, ACoP L8, and other relevant industry guidelines.
4. Experience with water testing methods, treatment technologies, and risk management.
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
8. Professional qualifications (e.g., WMSoc, CIWEM, or equivalent) are desirable.
