Salary: Up to £42,200 per annum

Aspart of our growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for anexperienced Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALN) to join ourteam at Chestnut Hill School in Holywell.

About this role

Towork with the Headteacher, Head of School and therapy team todetermine the strategic development of the ALN policy and provisionat Chestnut Hill. Provide professional guidance to colleagues andliaise and work with staff, parents, and other agencies to makesure that pupils with ALN receive appropriate support andhigh-quality teaching. Advise on the appropriate approaches toproviding ALN support and adapted teaching methods appropriate forindividual pupils in liaison with the therapy team. Work with theHeadteacher, HOS and school governors to make sure the school meetsits responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 with regard toreasonable adjustments and access arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with class teams andparents/carers about pupils' needs and any provisionmade.

• Have day-to-dayresponsibility for the operation of the ALN policy and theco-ordination of specific provision made to support pupils inrelation to IDPs and EHCPs.

• With the Headteacher, HOS and SLT regularlyreview and evaluate the breadth and impact of the ALN support theschool offers or can access, and co-operate with local authoritiesin reviewing the provision that is available locally and indeveloping the school's offer.

• With the Headteacher, HOS, SLT, therapy team andteaching staff, identify any patterns in the emerging needs ofpupils, both within the school and in comparison, with nationaldata, and use these to reflect on and reinforce the quality ofteaching.

• Be a point ofcontact for external agencies, especially the local authorities andtheir support services, and work with external agencies to ensurethat appropriate provision is in place. Including correspondenceregarding new referrals and admissions to theschool.

• Coordinatetransitions into and out of Chestnut Hill, by liaising withparents, current placements, potential next providers of educationto make sure that the pupil and their parents are informed aboutoptions and that a smooth transition isplanned.

• To supportthe Head of School and Executive Headteacher in formulating andannual school improvement plan.

• To oversee all baselining and screeningassessments on entry to the school and subsequent baseline testingto monitor effective progress.

• To provide good channels of communicationbetween the Headteacher, HOS, SLT, the education team, therapists,parents, carers and relevant externalagencies.

• To overseeand deliver where necessary programmes of intervention with a focusto improve pupil progress in literacy andnumeracy.

• To create a wellordered and calm environment that is stimulating and purposeful forall pupils through close working with the senior leadershipteam.

• To review and developthe Teaching and Learning policy throughout the school withinagreed areas of responsibility

• With the Headteacher, HOS, SLT, monitor toidentify any staff who have specific training needs regarding ALN,and incorporate this into the school's plan for continuousprofessional development.

Essential Criteria

• QTS

• SENCo or ALNCoQualification

• Additionalqualification/experience in SEN or ALN.

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Successful experience of classroomteaching

• A soundunderstanding of the complexity of Additional LearningNeeds

• The ability to buildon the good practice within the school
