Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent experienced adoption Advanced Practitioner to help ensure the council provides a professional Adoption Service that focusses on children's best interests.You will provide professional and comprehensive casework on the most complex cases within the service, and take a lead on Post-Adoption Services, mentoring and advising other team members.Assessing and supporting adoptive carers to ensure that the care that they provide meets the needs of the individual child. You will need to gather, investigate, evaluate and analyse all necessary information on assigned cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidenced conclusions and realistic action plans.As well as this, you will develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having full regard to their education, social, recreational, and health needs.Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You are required to have a minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in working with children and families, especially adoption.Experience of the recruitment, training, assessment and support of adopters, as well as multidisciplinary workingYou will have detailed knowledge of methods of social work intervention, child protection, looked after children, fostering and adoption services.Along with knowledge of relevant legislation & regulations, including Adoption Regulations 2005 updated 2011 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and the National Minimum Standards for Adoption2011.
