Nature friendly farming, regenerative and net zero farming already take place in all sorts of shapes and sizes on farms and crofts in the National Park. We now have an exciting opportunity for an Agricultural Adviser to support existing work, develop and deliver new projects, and use their knowledge of farm practices and business to ensure sustainability in delivering high quality food production, nature and net-zero objectives.

The Role:

As the Agricultural Adviser you will be a first point of contact and maintain excellent communication between farmers and crofters and the Park Authority. You will animate and deliver a programme of projects, advice and support that will support farmers and crofters in the National Park as sustainable farm businesses producing high quality food increasingbiodiversity, and mitigating and adapting to the climate emergency.

About You:

To be considered as our Agricultural Adviser, you'll need:

• Excellent understanding and experience of upland farming and crofting, farm business models and sustainability

• Good knowledge of upland farm biodiversity and experience of delivering Nature-Friendly farming projects

• Experience of project management and delivery, including procurement and managing contractors

• Good understanding of Scottish agricultural policy and legislation

• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, specifically with experience of speaking directly with farmers and crofters, and of working closely with public agencies and agricultural stakeholders

• Understanding of carbon accounting and soil health

• Permission to work in the UK.
