Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading, growing and successful business based within an interesting sector to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Senior Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant to join their close-knit accounting team in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. The successful finance applicant will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager in a varied position taking ownership of all purchase ledger processes for the company while also supporting in month-end processes, year-end, sales ledger and more. Offering remote/office hybrid working and the opportunity to really add value to a growing group.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve managing all purchase ledger processes for the company, including processing foreign currency invoices, payments and deposits, setting up new supplier accounts, entering approved invoices, processing weekly/monthly supplier payment runs across various entities, along with ensuring HMRC compliance for VAT purchases. You will manage a busy purchase ledger inbox resolving any queries, costing invoices to the correct cost centre, processing multi-currency payments and supplier statements reconciliations. You will analyse/code credit cards monthly, reconcile credit card statements, bank reconciliations and support the sales ledger team when required with sales invoicing and credit control. You will be involved in month-end processes across entities within the group, including calculating prepayments, accruals and updating foreign deposits, analysing data, journal processes, supporting year-end bank financial audits, and assisting others within the team with monthly accounts preparation. You will support the finance team and wider business with ad-hoc projects and additional tasks to support business growth.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this varied & hands-on Assistant Accountant/Senior Accounts Assistant role, you will need experience in similar positions, a team player who is willing to learn and adapt to business needs. You will be eager to take on more responsibility as you grow with the business and have strong communication skills to build both internal and external relationships at all levels. You will have key attention to detail/accuracy, be able to manage your own workloads to meet deadlines, problem-solving skills, and have good experience in financial systems, along with MS excel skills. Experience using Sage 200 would be advantageous but not essential.

This permanent Assistant Accountant/Senior Accounts Assistant role offers a salary between £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
