Working for a university with an excellent reputation in Dairy Science research, this role is based on their rural farm which is part of a National centre for Dairy research.
The opportunity for an Assistant Farm Manager (Dairy) to join the team, reporting in to the Farm Manager.
Your new role This role is an opportunity for an experienced person with a proven track record of working in dairy farming to high standards who is willing to take on more responsibility.You will support the Farm Manager (Dairy) in all aspects of animal husbandry, feeding, milking (via Lely Astronauts) and hygiene. Once settled, you will provide rota cover for the Farm Manager and will therefore be the responsible person on site for a considerable number of days per year.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to live in a house provided by the University close to the farm, for which the rent is almost entirely subsidised by the farm.

What you'll need to succeed
Candidates should be qualified to a degree/HND or equivalent in Agriculture or a related field plus have considerable experience in a similar role or have extensive relevant work experience in a similar role. You will also have experience of managing a team and will have experience of operating a wide range of farm equipment. Due to the frequency that the role holder will drive vehicles a full, current driving licence is also essential for this post.
What you'll get in return
This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time; 36.25 hours per week worked by rota, averaging 5 days out of 7, including working regular weekends. It would be expected that the successful candidate would work regular additional hours as required.
