Applications are invited for Associate General Manager - Specialist Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

To provide timely, efficient, and effective operational management support for divisional service areas, assisting the lead clinicians and senior managers as required and ensuring that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.

To take forward agreed projects to improve patient pathway, service delivery and patient experience in agreed areas. To lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are achieved. To problem solve as appropriate, developing and implementing lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues. To be a key member of the divisional management team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.

Person Specification Qualifications
  1. Education to degree level or equivalent qualification and or experience
  2. Postgraduate management diploma or equivalent in- depth knowledge in a number of management disciplines acquired through training and experience to degree level or equivalent
Experience
  1. Proven experience of managing a significant service budget
  2. Up-to-date knowledge of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers. (Performance Management, Operating Framework, capacity planning, payment by results, independent sector development and Foundation Trust issues)
  3. Experience of managing people and teams
  4. Experience in developing creative solutions to problems
Knowledge
  1. Knowledge of current NHS initiatives and development related to speciality
  2. Knowledge of key performance measures/indicators
  3. Knowledge of patient data systems
Skills
  1. In line with established NHS management competencies, demonstrate the ability to prioritise, organise and carry out own work effectively and within agreed timescales and deadlines
  2. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider MDT
  3. The ability to express oneself clearly both orally and in writing
  4. In managing others, has an approach which is both inclusive and developmental
