Private Equity

We invest capital in areas where we can utilise our comparative advantages, namely, a long investment horizon, global presence, sector expertise, as well as skilled, and experienced teams.

The Private Equity Direct Investments Group has a flexible mandate allowing us to invest directly in companies, as a minority, co-control and sole or lead investor. Our investment philosophy is founded on partnering with high quality management teams and key stakeholders to help world-class businesses achieve their objectives. We have invested directly in approximately 500 companies globally across multiple sectors, with a focus on high quality, stable businesses with competitive moats, high cash generation, and sustained growth potential aligned with our long-term ownership mindset.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Direct Investments team in Europe as an AVP. The close-knit team currently comprises 14 investment professionals based in London.

What you will do as an AVP

  1. Work predominantly as part of small deal teams to source, evaluate, and execute direct investments in private companies across a range of sectors and geographies.
  2. Be involved in all aspects of the transaction process, including modelling and valuation, taking ownership of some workstreams of the commercial and financial due diligence, preparing and presenting materials to the Investment Committee.
  3. Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with counterparties, including potential and existing investee companies alongside more senior investment officers as well as advisors and counterparties at other investing firms.
  4. Monitor certain of GIC's investments, which includes supporting GIC representatives at board meetings, tracking financial performance, interacting with management and other shareholders on a regular basis, developing exit plans.
  5. Take part in ad-hoc projects such as global sector reviews, market mapping of specific sub-sectors, strategic reviews.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  1. 4-6 years of work experience, with relevant transaction history at a leading principal investing firm / private equity fund.
  2. Educated to post-graduate / graduate level.
  3. Strong track record of performance, success and impact at current employer.
  4. Self-starter and ability to operate in a less structured environment.
  5. Very strong commercial judgment and a passion for understanding what drives business quality and value.
  6. The ability to develop and defend an investment point of view.
  7. Proven skills and experience in commercial, financial and valuation analysis.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. European language skills would be a plus.
