Job Description

We are excited to share this new opportunity to join our team in Business Development supporting a new proposition in renewable energy.

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with a solid public sector background and an excellent ability to nurture and develop senior C-suite relationships.

This is a home-based role with client travel as required.

Job Description

What you'll be doing:

  1. Leading on the development of positive client relationships including the enhancement of existing relationships as well as the creation of new relationships.
  2. Achieving agreed sales (revenue) targets.
  3. Driving origination activity via the development of strategic relationships for key strategic opportunities and in support of organic growth.
  4. Playing a key role in developing the growth culture of the division and being an advocate for the pivot to growth plan through your behaviours and leadership activity.
  5. Leading the internal 'sell' of opportunities, including working with commercial colleagues to guide client proposals through our governance arrangements.

What we're looking for:

  1. Adept at understanding client requirements and building effective relationships that have delivered growth.
  2. Background in selling in the public sector environment.
  3. Strong understanding of solar/renewable energy technology and the commercial energy market.
  4. Leading sales, including identifying opportunities and managing them through the sales cycle.
  5. Engaging executive-level clients, including 'pitching' ideas and working in a collaborative way.
  6. Leading within a large and complex organisation, with a track record in bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects.

The core skills required for the role include:

  1. Relationship Building - the ability to engage and develop sustainable relationships that have delivered mutually beneficial outcomes.
  2. Leadership - the ability to lead, support and develop the team, both direct and indirect, inspire and motivate and continuously improve the output.
  3. Customer management - from initial engagement with customers to develop long-term relationships, including the ability to challenge customers constructively and bring forward new collaborative projects.
  4. Collaboration - the ability to work with others, particularly operational and commercial staff, and those that can support the development and delivery of new ideas.
  5. Communication - the ability to effectively articulate ideas, problems and solutions in writing and through presentations, to both internal stakeholders and customer groups.
  6. Commercial - the ability to understand and respond to financial and commercial drivers, and create compelling business cases. A track record in delivering profitable opportunities.
