Job Description

The Service & Team:

Working within the Children and Families Service in Children's Social Care, the successful applicants will join our residential services to meet the needs of children and young people who are in the care of the Local Authority and who may have experienced abuse and trauma.

The Role:

There are two positions available - one based in Liskeard and one based in Truro.

The Registered (Home) Manager has operational responsibility for the children's home and ensuring quality standards are maintained. The post-holder will be expected to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager (as set out in the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015) on completion of their 'fit person' interview. The postholder will assume legal accountability for the satisfactory operation of the home in line with Ofsted requirements. Supported by a Service Manager (the Responsible Individual) the successful applicant will have previous experience of managing a Children's Home, working with multi-disciplinary teams and leading and managing residential care workers.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

The usual working pattern is Monday to Friday; however, a flexible working approach is taken to meet the needs of the residents and staff.

What you'll need to succeed:

The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ level 5 with a willingness to undertake further academic studies and/or training to enhance the service understanding and capacity to respond to the complex needs children and young people may present with. They will have significant management experience, knowledge, skills and experience of working with children, young people and their parent / carers, and be able to demonstrate a track record of successful performance in residential care provision. The successful applicant will have a curiosity about behaviours and a commitment to the best outcomes for children and young people; emotional resilience and a good working knowledge of Ofsted inspections and Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
