Job Description

Job title: Co Nursery Manager


Reporting to: Directors


Hours: 7.00am - 7.00pm (40 hours per week/shifts)


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


1. To have specific responsibility for the care, safety and overall development of infants (aged 0-5 years) within the nursery provision.
2. To provide high quality care and education within the nursery provision.
3. To motivate and supervise the nursery staff team including sessional staff and any students. To conduct regular staff assessments, recognising training needs, monitoring training and development teamwork. Organising regular staff meeting and in house training.
4. To be the ambassador of Raphael Nursery values and ethos
5. To lead on staff planning and preparation of group and individual work to suit the needs of the children in a stimulating environment holding regular meetings and ensuring best practice is adhered to all times. Ensuring development records and regular observation are kept.
6. To develop and and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers of children attending the nursery, encouraging engagement with the provision. Liaise with parents and negotiation of working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
7. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other professionals.
8. To aim for outstanding ofsted rating, develop a plan to reach the rating and execute on it
8. To keep up to date with current thinking, regulation and guidance in relation to early years development.
9. To develop and implement policies and practice specific to children aged 0-5 years.
10. To develop and implement settling-in programmes for new parents/carers and their children.
11. To work in partnership with relevant experts and professionals, to develop and run information and learning sessions aimed at parents and carers.
12. To ensure effective safe recruitment is followed according to the Director's safer recruitment procedures and Government legislation.
13. To ensure a tier system of management is in place and that duties are delegated fairly. Maintaining staff ration and ensuring staff are deployed effectively.
14. Implement Raphael Nursery routines, procedures, teaching methodology, branding and all centralised practises
15. Participate in practises across both nurseries

GENERAL DUTIES


•Responsibility for daily running and administration of the nursery whilst adhering to the Policies & Procedures, ensuring compliance with the Children Act and Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines laid down by Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
•Having key-holder responsibility.
•Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in nursery.
•To comply with Raphael Nursery's Equal Opportunities policies at all times, offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
•To comply with Raphael Nursery Health & Safety policies at all times, ensuring that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the nursery, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to Policies & Procedures and risk assessments.
•To lead staff meetings, conduct Appraisals and Supervision sessions.
•To monitor the administration and finances of all nursery activities as directed by the Directors to mange budgets, keep accurate records of staffing, payroll, banking, petty cash, fundraising all other activities as requested. Issue of invoices and collection of fees and meeting agreed targets.
•To prepare and present reports to the Directors, Local Authority and other bodies.
•To attend meetings in relation to post.
•To comply with legislation regarding Safeguarding of the staff, stakeholders and the children.
•To ensure that at all times on Designated staff administer medication as recorded in the risk assessments and as required by the EYFS Statutory Requirements.
•To keep and monitor accident, incident and risk assessment records.
•To provide the Directors with weekly reports on the nursery and following the Director's procedures for reporting accidents and incidents.
Staff are expected to provide support for each other, to cover each other's area of work in absences, to share information and to contribute generally to the smooth running of the office. Staff may also be required to undertake other duties with their capabilities.


MDS, as part of its objectives, intends to offer employment opportunities within the organisation to trainees. All staff are expected to take part in the planning and management of these initiatives and where required, supervise trainees.


For health and safety reasons, the nursery operates a no smoking policy within the premises and surrounding perimeters.
