Consultant Dermatologist

We are excited to invite applications for a new substantive full-time or part-time Dermatology consultant to join the Dermatology Department at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, part of Barts Health NHS Trust serving the population of Newham and Tower Hamlets. This is to support the expansion of the department in response to increased demand.
Up to 12 PAs are available which have been arranged into 2 x 6 PA job plans, however the department is open to full time or part time applications and final job plans will be agreed with the successful applicant(s
Main duties of the jobThe Dermatology Department is a well-established regional centre of excellence in North East London. This post will support the expansion of the department to meet increasing demand and embracing digital innovation to improve patients access to excellent Dermatology care and advice.
The successful candidate will join 27 existing consultants, six specialist registrars and two clinical fellows in delivering a broad range of Dermatology services as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with close links with Plastic Surgery, Oral Medicine, Clinical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Renal Transplant and Haemato-Oncology colleagues.

Job responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will play a key role in developing the dermatology service by providing specialist clinical care as well as improving collaborative patient care with other specialties. We also welcome applications from candidates with developed or developing specialist interests who could lead new specialist services for North East London and beyond.
Person Specification Professional Qualifications- MBBS (or equivalent)
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- Eligible for full GMC Registration
- On GMC Specialist Register in Dermatology or within 6 months of attainment of CCT
- On the day of interview, applicants must be within 6 months of attainment of CCT or must have successfully completed CESR application and be on the GMC Specialist Register
- Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions
- General Dermatology diagnostic and treatment procedures;
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary clinics Inpatient care for those who require inpatient treatment
- Dermatological procedures and surgery
- Comprehensive knowledge of general and some specialist Dermatology areas
- Evidence of conducting and presenting clinical audit projects, attendance of departmental meetings and post-graduate activities and management meetings
- Track record of delivering clinical improvement projects
- Experience of teaching medical undergraduates Understanding / knowledge of Research ethics
- Attainment of MD or equivalent higher degrees
- Communication: Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate and problem solve.
- Accountability: ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority
- Interpersonal Skills High standards in patient care. Able to empathise and communicate with patients, relatives and carers. Able to work co-operatively with others to achieve organisational and personal goals.
