Consultant Medical Oncologist

Due to increasing demand on our services, we are excited to offer the opportunity for a permanent Medical Oncologist to join our team. This post is key to the continued development and delivery of cancer services to the population of Dorset. This is a 10 PA role, but part-time or compressed working will also be considered.
The role will involve covering the management of cancer patients from MDT referral through to treatment with Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. This will include direct in-patient provision including 'consultant of the week' cover and also advise through ward referrals for patients admitted under other specialities, as well as Outpatient clinics.

Person Specification education and qualifications- Full GMC registration
- FRCR or eequivalent
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register via CCT (or CCT date within 6 months of interview)
- Advanced Communications training
- oAbility to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of adult patients
- oDemonstrate use of evidence based practice
- oDemonstrate evidence of sub-specialty / specific tumour site training
- oWilling and able to help develop oncology services
- oTeaching and audit experience
- oExperience of / ability to supervise and train junior doctors
- oAbility to develop effective working relationships on an individual, multi-professional and team basis with all levels of staff
- oExperience of service planning and developments
- oClinical / educational supervisor training
- oGood leadership skills
- oEnthusiasm and ability to work under pressure
- oWillingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional and national levels
