The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our permanent team in our Male PICU service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping patient care and contributing to the ongoing success of our services.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care for patients referred to the hospital.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model.
  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
  • Provide expert psychiatric assessments and treatment for a diverse patient population.
  • Lead and manage patient care within your specialty, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, therapists, and nursing staff.
  • Engage in clinical governance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, ensuring continuous high-quality care.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders and maintain a network of professional contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and meet Revalidation requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Full GMC registration with specialist registration in psychiatry.
  • Extensive experience in forensic psychiatry.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance and adherence to regulatory frameworks.
  • Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check, provided by Suttons Manor.
  • Hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of psychiatry and have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.
  • Ability to work autonomously to agreed short and medium term objectives.
  • Ability to understand the impact of actions on patient care and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply adaptive and creative thinking when translating best practice and evidence-based research into practical operational solutions.
