Job Description

Exciting opportunities are now open at East Cheshire NHS Trust (ECT) for innovative and forward-thinking clinicians to join our well-established Radiology Department.

The Trust is starting a CTCA service and candidates would be able to pursue this if interested.

Additional private practice opportunities also exist at the neighbouring Spire Regency, located adjacent to Macclesfield District General Hospital, with which we boast excellent relationships.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in gynaecology and urology.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly and provide high quality care with particular emphasis on:

  1. Participation in the on-call rota and assisting in providing cover for colleagues on leave.
  2. Working flexibly and co-operatively across sites to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  3. Ensuring that MDGH remains the priority when undertaking external or other non-clinical appointments or duties.
  4. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective management of patients, internal referrals, and theatre sessions.
  5. Participation in the education and training of medical students, doctors and professionals allied to medicine.
  6. Demonstrating a firm commitment to the principles of clinical governance.
  7. Developing and maintaining robust systems to ensure effective clinical audit.
  8. Ensuring NHS Plan standards for inpatient/day case Waiting Times are achieved.
  9. Ensuring that optimal use is made of resources allocated to the department and the post.
About us

NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. For new starters not already working to UK Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service will be appointed to the minimum paypoint. The starting salary paypoint can only be increased when there is evidence of relevant, completed year's experience in terms of nature, type and level of role. The evidence required to increase a starting salary would be Payslips and details noted in the application form i.e. complete employment history.

Person Specification Legal
  • Applicants must have full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • UK trained applicants are required to be a Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.
Qualifications & Training
  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) or equivalent.
  • FRCR (Fellowship of the Royal College) of Radiologists or equivalent.
  • Participation in a management training course.
  • Participation in an advanced IT training course.
  • Higher Degree.
Clinical Knowledge & Expertise
  • General Radiology Sub Speciality Imaging.
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development and keeps up to date with medical advances.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the core legal, ethical and political issues which govern medical practice.
  • Experience of recent and current research and/or relevant publications.
  • Experience of teaching/training.
  • Attendance at a 'Teaching for Teachers' or similar course.
Safety
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to putting patient safety at the heart of all activity.
