The team/department
As part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division, we are leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation. In Intelligence and Digital, a subdivision of DTI, we believe in doing things differently.

It is an exciting time to join our growing DTI community of user-centred design (UCD) specialists, help shape and deliver the building blocks for excellence and deliver impactful work in our exemplar programmes.
What you will be doing (the role)
As a Content Designer at the FCA you will work within a specialist UCD team to help increase the maturity of UCD across the organisation.
You will work alongside more experienced content designers on emerging multidisciplinary digital product teams to design new products and services that help our users achieve their goals
Responsibilities also include:
* Design content to meet user needs, making complex language and processes easy to understand
* Put accessibility and inclusion at the heart of your content design decisions, helping create products that work for our diverse range of users
* Help your project colleagues understand the value of content design
* Consider how content design can help improve people's engagement with our products (metrics include more people using the products, fewer people dropping out before they get what they need, and an improvement in the quality of data we collect)
* Use and contribute to style guides and content patterns in the FCA Design System
* Be an active member of the FCA content community and contribute to initiatives to increase maturity within the profession

The skills and experience you will have
Minimum
We are a signatory to the Government's Disability Confident scheme. This means that we will offer an interview to disabled candidates entering under the scheme, who best meet the minimum criteria for a role.
* Experience working as a content designer within any of the following types of organisations or sectors: financial services, government/regulatory body, technology, consultancy (ideally IT consultancy)
* Experience working in a project/programme environment involving digital transformation and business changes
Essential
* An understanding of language and human behaviour, which you use to communicate complex information in a straightforward and accessible way
* An understanding of user-centred design ways of working and how content design integrates with other roles to achieve successful outcomes
* The ability to use quantitative and qualitative data about users to inform content design decisions
* Experience writing, editing and publishing digital content, and using content management systems to publish content
* An understanding of different prototyping techniques, from paper sketches to coded prototypes, and when to use them
* The ability to identify key stakeholders and understand their needs, and the importance of managing relationships with them
