Hays Belfast are recruiting for a specialist sub-contractor in their bid to hire a Contracts Manager. Based in County Antrim, your new employer is a specialist glass and glazing contractor operating across the UK and Ireland from its base here in Northern Ireland.With their substantial office, warehouse, and production facility on-site, this allows for seamless transitions between project stages across multiple departments. Your new role
As Contracts manager, you will be responsible for overseeing various jobs throughout Ireland and the UK. Projects will range in size from £200k to £2million and all vary in size. You will take charge of each job from inception to completion and be involved in all aspects of design, procurement and build. You will manage the job within the budget and deliver each in a timely manner. Schemes will range from windows and curtain wall packages to new internal and external glazing packages. Duties will include:

  • Ensuring that contractual requirements are met and that the contract is delivered on time, within budget and of excellent quality
  • Liaise with all internal departments as necessary to ensure the successful delivery of the contract
  • Ensuring that the correct workforce is allocated to the contract to meet with requirements and manage variances in the workforce
  • Ensuring that all travel and logistical arrangements are sufficient for delivery to be in line with the project requirements
  • Management of all contractual variances to include adequate recording of variances and obtaining agreement on price by liaising with the relevant Company personnel
  • Managing the performance of subcontractors to always ensure delivery by the subcontractors of the highest quality of work
  • Work with other relevant departments to produce a realistic programme for contract delivery and ensure that the programme is adhered to by all relevant personnel
  • Ensure all projects are delivered in line with our SHEQ Integrated Management System.
  • What you'll need to succeed
    To be successful in this role, you must have relevant previous experience of working in a similar construction Contracts Manager role, preferably with facades or experience of curtain walling. You will be a self-starter, with a can-do attitude and a good level of organisation. You will possess a high level of communication and be responsible for ensuring the scheme is delivered on time and on budget. You will be able to motivate each management team on site and report updates and improvements to senior management and clients. You will also sit in on meetings with clients and stakeholders to give accurate projections on any issues.You will also be required to travel at least 1 night a week but largely be based in their Antrim Office.
