Job Description

Simply Commerce are partnered with a leading health and safety equipment provider that are looking for someone to join their team of 4 Data Governance Specialists. In this role you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing data policies, procedures and standards that drive business efficiencies and give our organisation a competitive edge.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards that align with industry best practices.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to document identified activities for automation in areas such as data quality monitoring, metadata management, or master data management.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure effective communication and collaboration on projects related to master data.
  • Monitoring and measuring compliance with data governance policies/standards and identify areas for improvement or enhancement.
  • Collaborating with the Data Engineering team to ensure that data pipelines and systems adhere to data governance policies and standards.
  • Use data modelling techniques to identify ways in which an organisation can operate more effectively. Gathering Metadata (TDE, BDE, Lineage)
  • Exploring how the organisation is currently operating via research, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, collecting quantitative data.
  • Working with stakeholders across the organisations to map out data processes. Understanding different solutions, their risks, benefits, and impacts.

The ideal Data Governance Specialist will be/have:

  • In-depth understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK). Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
  • Around 2 years experience in a Data Governance / Analyst type role.
  • Extensive knowledge of GDPR and other data protection regulations relevant to the UK and Ireland.
  • Experience with data management practices, including data quality, data integration, and master data management
  • Familiarity with data governance & quality tools and methodologies. (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
  • Knowledge of data modelling and database management systems.
  • Experience with metadata management and data cataloging.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

2-3 days in office in Hull.

Up to 10% Bonus.
