An exciting new opportunity has arisen for proactive and dynamic COSD Coordinators to work on a fixed term 18 month contract, at our Princess Royal University Hospital and King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the Cancer Performance Manager in ensuring that trust-wide cancer data collection mechanisms are robust and will be responsible for the recording of Cancer Outcome and Services Data set (COSD). This will involve developing complex information reporting tools, presenting detailed analysis, providing expert analytical and statistical advice to support the admin teams, management, cancer nurse specialists and clinicians.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Analyse and interpret cancer data to support the cancer management teams and the cancer data teams.
  • Be organised, self-motivated, have attention to detail, work to tight deadlines, have a track record of delivering, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly, with travel to other sites in the organisation required on occasion.

The role would be ideally suited to someone with a minimum of three years experience of working in the NHS, in a Band 4 or above position and is proficient in data analysis, clinical audits and information management.

Person specification Essential and Desirable
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent clinical/healthcare knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Experience of cancer data analysis and information management. Ability to analyse complex problems and interpret information effectively and exercise sound judgement and develop practical and workable solutions.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in dealing with staff of all levels.
  • A demonstrable capacity and capability for operational/clinical service management at middle level in an acute hospital environment or similarly complex organisation.
