Data Scientist

Requirements

• A practical and proactive Data Scientist who's excited about building models to solve real-world problems with immediate impact
• Fluent in Python, with hands-on experience in a cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• (Desirable) Experience in the energy sector
• You have at least 3 years of industry experience as a Data Scientist, Quantitative Analyst, Pricing Analyst, or Actuary.
• Experienced building pricing and/or risk models to drive business decisions.
• (Desirable) Experience in insurance, fintech, or another actuarial-style role
• Independent and proactive, excelling in high-trust, results-driven settings.
• You thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership of your growth, and stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and research
• (Desirable) Experience working in a startup environment
• (Desirable) You've successfully taken a model from development to deployment in a production environment
• (Desirable) Experience working with time series forecasting models

What the job involves

• Data is at the heart of our core product, RED (Renewable Energy Direct). As our second Data Scientist, you'll work on RED's high-impact problems and directly influence the future of renewable energy
• Helping to shape the team's future data tech stack and contributing to the development of a world-class data science foundation.
• Primarily developing statistical and machine learning models to predict risk and optimise pricing margins for our customers
• Working on time series forecasting models to predict energy consumption, generation, and price fluctuations
• Directly influencing the outputs of RED and shaping the decisions that drive our product forward
• Owning the full machine learning lifecycle, from research and development to deployment and monitoring
• Actively participating in our data meetings (e.g., stand-ups, strategy meetings, and deep dive sessions) to share insights and learn from peers
• Receiving ongoing support for continuous learning, research, and development to tackle the biggest challenges we face in the energy sector
• Ensuring traceable renewable energy becomes accessible to all
• Tech Stack: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway), Python, SQL, MLFlow, Postgres (RDS), dbt, Quicksight, Terraform/Terragrunt
