Data Scientist

Our public sector client is looking for a Data Scientist to join the Strategic Technologies and Techniques team in the Data Science Campus.

Following rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), a key focus of the Data Science Campus is to ensure that we are at the forefront of identifying new developments and testing their use with the aim of have a lasting impact, including:
Enhanced statistics resulting from higher quality input data, more robust data linkage, and improved processing
More accessible statistics through improved dissemination to users
A more efficient organisation across the data collection, processing, and auxiliary functions

Skills and Experience
* Proficiency in Python and experience with the full data science and machine learning stack.
* Strong software engineering skills with a focus on building robust, production-ready systems and understanding of deploying and monitoring such systems in a cloud environment.
* Experience in using data science techniques (eg natural language processing, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, deep learning).
* Passion for building AI tools that can be used by others to deliver business outcomes.
* Experience using Google Cloud Platform with a focus on building data science tools utilising private infrastructure and controlled access.
* Experience using Generative AI with a focus on implementing the tool into software or tools that can be used by others.

Day to Day
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including researchers, product managers, and senior stakeholders to quickly understand customer needs and translate them into pragmatic technical solutions leveraging AI.
* Rapidly prototype AI-powered features and iterate based on user feedback.
* Establish frameworks, tools, and processes to responsibly develop, deploy, and monitor AI systems.
* Work closely with technology colleagues to understand infrastructure needs and bottlenecks.

* MUST be eligible for SC Clearance.*
