Fantastic opportunity - contract role - Design Operations Manager.

Initial 3 month contract role, inside ir35, up to £500 a day, based in Manchester (preferably) or London. 1 or 2 days a week in the office.

The Accessibility team are responsible for delivering Accessibility & Assistive Technology guidance, best practice and specialist support within the organisation, working closely with colleagues across the organisation but principally HR, Technology and Procurement, in order to deliver a business and employee experience that grows a truly inclusive organisation.

The role will initially provide cover for some of the key tasks delivered by our Senior Delivery Manager who is on sick leave currently, but will primarily be directed to support the project delivery of our proposed Accessibility Centre of Excellence initiative, working primarily with the Accessibility team, but also involving colleagues across UX&D and our external partners.

Key tasks include:

  • Supporting the Accessibility team to maintain and manage workflows, ensuring work is delivered within our agreed SLA's, highlighting risks associated with meeting targets and/or available resource in the team.
  • Building and maintain workflow systems, moving away from Smartsheets currently being used to instead using Jira.
  • Support the Accessibility team, understand risks/issues/barriers they face to escalate to senior managers, helping to remediate/seek solutions.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, internally and externally, providing a bridge between Stakeholders and the Accessibility team to create positive conversations.
  • Support the delivery of a new Accessibility Centre of Excellence, working as part of the project team comprising internal and 3rd Party agency staff.

Top skills/experience sought

  • Have demonstrable Design Operations experience, across digital products, platforms and services.
  • Experience also across Digital Accessibility & Assistive Technology
  • Where necessary, can mediate between teams and individuals to secure successful outcomes and build/maintain trust.
  • Experience of working in large, complex organisation
  • Understanding of social modals for disability - they successful candidate will not need to code but will need to have a good understanding of accessibility needs/solutions of staff
  • Can effectively react, manage and respond to challenges.
  • Be a team player and active listener who can give clear, actionable feedback and manage complex team dynamics.
  • Able to influence and identify opportunities to make the case for and introduce positive changes to a team.
  • Able to bridge specialisms and navigate ambiguity.
