Role profile:

The COO of Digital and Securities Markets will play a vital role in driving commercial outcomes in accordance with London Stock Exchange Group (Group), Markets, DSM, Equities (including LSE plc and Turquoise) and DMI strategies. The successful candidate plays a key role in the governance of LSE plc and Turquoise, helping to ensure that appropriate focus is given to the Recognised Investment Exchange (RIE) and MTF regulatory requirements.

S/he will assist in ensuring that we operate orderly markets with resilient systems and that our teams are appropriately resourced. The COO will support the CEO and Deputy CEO of LSE plc, the CEO of Turquoise and in time the CEO of DMI Ltd in ensuring that the Digital and Securities Markets area operates with an appropriate level of independence and integrity within the wider Group framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategy & Vision: support the respective CEOs and Deputy CEO in the overall direction, execution of strategy and vision, taking into account the perspective of members, clients, regulators as well as legal or technological constraints.
  • Business Operations: aligning cross functional teams to deliver services and solutions that drive performance management and other processes in consistent and scalable ways.
  • Portfolio and Programme Governance: ensuring we deliver on our commitments by ensuring world-class program governance and execution excellence across strategic programmes.
  • Risk Strategy and Business Controls: driving consistent best-in-class focus on resiliency and risk across Equities & DSM so that we can deliver a secure and resilient service to our customers.
  • Functional matrix management: coordinating across LSEG's functional matrix (tech, operations, corporate functions and key strategic partners including Microsoft) and orchestrating risk and controls across the division.
  • Process Excellence: responsible for enhancing internal and external processes, to ensure we deliver a great experience for customers as our business evolves to serve their changing needs.
  • Performance Reporting and Analytics: using data to drive better decision-making across DSM through a cross functional approach.
  • Values: demonstrates and role models the Values and People Leader Expectations in day-to-day activities and interactions and creates a culture of high performance and engagement through real time support and challenge.
  • Team Development: continuing to invest in, and develop a world-class team, ensuring the progression and development of all employees and robust succession to meet growth and resilience objectives.
  • Regulatory: develop and support maintaining strong relationships with the FCA, other regulatory authorities, governments and policy formulators to ensure that the business meets its regulatory responsibilities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 12+ years of senior professional experience, industry experience preferred
  • Candidate should have multi-disciplinary background spanning both commercial as well as operational leadership
  • Exceptional capabilities to manage within a matrixed organization
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Experience transforming large teams at scale and leading change programmes
  • Direct experience managing global lines of business
  • Demonstrated impact and outstanding track record of results on improving customer experience, quality of services, internal simplification, and speed to market
  • Expert counsel and advisor to peers
