JOB PURPOSE
The Quant Solutions Group (QSG) is a global, cross-asset team that designs and solutions the software and analytics that underpin the Global Markets business. The analytical software developed by QSG is widely used across CIBC, helping the Distribution team to price trades and serve clients, Trading to manage their risk and Structuring to identify new client opportunities. The team is split between London, Toronto and New York, with this role being based in London.
This is a new position that has been formed to help further grow our global, cross-asset, Structured Notes business. This role sits at the intersection of Global Markets and Technology and will be involved in all stages of business development.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Identifying new business opportunities and determining potential revenue, cost reduction and return on investment.
- Converting selected business growth opportunities into concrete technology deliverables, producing detailed business requirements and designing technology solution architecture.
- Hands-on prioritization and oversight of system development.
- Testing, roll-out and adoption of delivered solutions.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- This role will work closely with key business stakeholders in Trading and Distribution, as well as the Technology Application Development, BA and QA functions.
- Additionally it will work with key support groups including Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) and Finance.

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS
- As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Although individual candidates will come with diverse backgrounds, the following specific attributes are a useful guide to the level of performance expected:
- Deep understanding of the Structured Notes business and the detailed lifecycle of a Structured Note.
- First-hand experience of designing and implementing an automated Structured Notes business.
- Strong system engineering skillset with the ability to create a detailed system design.
- Familiarity with SQL, python, scripting and data visualization tools (such as Tableau or PowerBI).
- Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA (or equivalent) tools for documenting and managing development projects.
- Ability to work in a team, manage a development pipeline, and communicate technical issues clearly.
- This role operates within a normal office environment. Hybrid working arrangements will be considered.
