Job Description: Field Operations Team Engineer - South West England
Salary: £40,000 + A company Van
Hours of Work: Full time - 9-5 (some on-call + overtime) - 5% on-call allowance
Working Location: Based around Exeter, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Bath
Start date: ASAP

Summary:
You have the chance to work for a leading UK technology services provider that delivers tailored solutions to both private and public sector organisations, from installing fibre optic and microwave links for offshore wind farms to providing comprehensive ICT Managed Services.
Our client is looking to appoint a Field Ops Engineer, who will be working in a team of 7 focused predominantly in the final stages of the project life cycle, completing final configuration and testing prior to customer handover as well as post-handover maintenance and support tasks.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Commission and test equipment and systems, ensuring accurate and timely completion per provided documentation.
- Configure, fault-find, and maintain third-party equipment.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and promote best practices among colleagues.
- Provide accurate maintenance reports and prepare recommendations for future projects.
- Perform out-of-hours on-call cover as needed.
- Advise on and develop proactive/reactive maintenance strategies.
- Obtain and maintain technical competence with supported systems.
- Support pre-sales efforts by providing accurate pricing for RFQs and tenders.
- Offer technical advice on engineering projects.
Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of CCTV/VSS systems.
- Proven background in site activities, including configuring and commissioning telecoms and communications equipment.
- Flexibility to work across different UK regions and occasionally abroad, with willingness to stay on-site as needed.
- Strong customer-facing skills with excellent communication, presentation, and written abilities.
- Confidence in working within controlled environments, such as electrical substations, and with low-voltage power systems.
- A proactive team player with the ability to work independently using initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of facilitating discussions and driving effective solutions.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within the role.
