Role: Finance Director & Head of Delivery

Location: We are based in Waterloo (London) with a minimum of three days in the office a week.

Salary: £70,000 to £90,000 depending on experience

This role combines being one of our fin-leads, working across a small portfolio of clients, with taking the internal role of Head of Delivery for fin-house. It's a unique opportunity to blend client-focused finance leadership with operational oversight, ensuring our entire team delivers excellence across the board.

As fin-lead you'll be transforming clients' finance functions into scalable, value-adding operations and as Head of Delivery you'll sit on the leadership team overseeing delivery processes that drive consistency and quality across our business. Your work will have a direct impact on our clients' success and on the growth of fin-house itself.

Your role will include:

  • Transforming Finance Functions: Oversee the transformation of our clients' finance operations into value-adding machines, building and enhancing scalable systems and processes.
  • Strategic Partnering: Immerse yourself in clients' organisations to become an extension of their leadership teams, offering commercial and strategic guidance at every step.
  • Delivery Leadership: Take charge of end-to-end client delivery, including smooth onboarding processes, ensuring critical tasks (like payroll, VAT, and reporting) are completed flawlessly, and minimising operational risks.
  • Portfolio Leadership: Manage a diverse portfolio of companies, ranging from startups to established SMEs, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Growth Enabler: Play a pivotal role in scaling fin-house, contributing to our exciting growth journey and fostering a culture of excellence.

Your Day-to-Day: fin-lead Responsibilities

  • Agile Team Leadership: Create and lead agile finance teams across your portfolio, ensuring each organisation operates effectively and adapts to evolving challenges.
  • Risk Management & Opportunity Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and communicate risks around commercial opportunities, while providing strategic support to drive long-term value creation.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead end-to-end budgeting and forecasting processes to align with strategic objectives and ensure agility in achieving long-term goals.
  • Driving Impact: Lead finance function teams across your portfolio to deliver actionable insights and measurable results, aligning with clients' strategic goals.
  • Leadership & Relationships: Build strong relationships internally and externally, becoming a trusted advisor to leadership teams across your portfolio.

Head of Delivery Responsibilities

  • Client Onboarding: Design and maintain a seamless, efficient client onboarding function, ensuring every client experiences a strong start.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee delivery across all client engagements, ensuring key processes like payroll, VAT, and compliance are completed accurately and on time.
  • Resource Management: Optimise resourcing to ensure efficient service delivery while minimising risks and maintaining high standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance processes and systems, ensuring consistent delivery excellence and scalability.
  • Change Management: Lead on implementing new software, processes, and strategies-whether it's expansion to new markets, process overhauls, or team growth-to bring transformative plans to life.

Additional Contributions

  • Coaching & Mentoring: Support the development of the wider fin-house team through mentorship and guidance.
  • Networking & Growth: Build external relationships to drive new business opportunities and contribute to fin-house's expansion.

You will need:

  • An accountancy qualification is desirable but we're willing to consider relevant alternative paths.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience working in accountancy/finance.
  • Experience with Xero and/or Quickbooks is ideal.
  • Expert at Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Experience of working with a portfolio of clients is highly desirable.
