Forensic or General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist

This is an opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist in an established and successful service, providing care and treatment for adult women with a wide range of mental health issues. The role is based at Arbury Court Hospital in Warrington, offering excellent transport links and a supportive team of like-minded professionals.
Main duties of the jobAs a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for delivering care programmes, managing physical and mental health concerns, and providing individualised approaches to the care and treatment of people admitted to the hospital. This includes undertaking psychiatric assessments, providing oral and written evidence at hearings, and contributing to service development and governance processes. You will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and build positive relationships with external stakeholders.
Job responsibilitiesWorking 37.5 hours a week, you will provide care and treatment for adult women with a wide range of mental health issues, responsible for delivering care programmes, managing physical and mental health concerns, and providing individualised approaches to the care and treatment of people admitted to the hospital.
Your responsibilities:
- Working effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure the best care and treatment outcomes
- Driving multidisciplinary care
- Contributing to service development and governance processes e.g. via quality improvement work
- Building positive relationships with external stakeholders such as NHS England case managers
- Undertaking psychiatric assessments for women referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided
- Providing oral and written evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings
- Ensuring that you are up to date with the latest developments by attending conferences, online courses etc.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Full GMC registration and Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- To be on (or about to join) the GMC specialist register for either forensic or general adult psychiatry
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- To be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and up to date with appraisals

Person Specification Qualifications- You will need to have full GMC registration, Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and be on (or about to join) the GMC specialist register for either forensic or general adult psychiatry.
