Quantitative Developer
Front Office Data & Analytics Engineer
Gas & Power Trading
Geneva, Switzerland

Our client is a leader in the commodities trading space, and they're looking for a software engineer with a strong quantitative development background to join their Data & Analytics Engineering team. They are looking for someone to join both their Power & Gas, and their Crude & Products desks, with a focus on Real Time trading systems. As part of this team, you'll lead the development of new systems, utilizing cloud technology and modern software stacks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing engineering solutions for intricate business challenges.
  • Creating and maintaining time-sensitive data integration pipelines (ETL/ELT).
  • Designing cloud-based data and analytics tools and solutions.
  • Formulating suitable data models for various internal and external datasets.
  • Assisting in the automation of processes on the trading desk.
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of technical projects to better support commercial requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience with Python and SQL.
  • Familiarity with relational databases.
  • Experience with object databases or NoSQL is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of AWS services (eg, S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda). AWS certifications are beneficial.
  • Experience with enterprise-level data systems.
  • Previous experience in Gas or Power trading is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams, including both business and technology stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with implementing software engineering best practices
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems in high-pressure environments
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize high-impact tasks effectively
