Department overview
Transfer Pricing is a mature and established function within the Tax team of Nomura's Finance division. The Transfer Pricing team is global in nature, with team members in all regions across London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai. We have a significant presence in Mumbai, providing support on analytical and operational Transfer Pricing matters.
The Transfer pricing team for each region rolls up into the regional tax team of that region, which thereafter rolls into Global Tax function.
Role description:
Reporting to the Global Head of Tax, you will be responsible for The Group's Global Transfer Pricing (TP) strategy, policy, cross region, divisional and functional implementation, provide support to business and corporate stakeholders and partnering with Regional Head of Tax to manage TP risk and compliance in accordance with OECD and TP rules across major countries where Nomura operates.
As a member of the Tax Leadership Team, you will be expected to support your colleagues responsible for regional tax matters with TP technical expertise and contribute to the Firm's Tax policy framework, drive people strategy and work alongside your peers and support the Global Head of Tax to identify ongoing opportunities to enhance the success of the Tax function. This role comes with the ability to manage and lead a virtual team across Nomura key locations.
Functionally, the remit of the role is broad, covering the following key areas:
- Development, implementation and ongoing adaptation of the global TP policy to Nomura's changes in business footprint and key strategies.
- Managing global TP portfolio within the Global Tax Governance framework whilst ensuring processes and management of resources are effective and efficient.
- Implementation and execution of TP policies, including review of key TP transactions and supporting regional Tax and Finance team on TP reporting within entity level.
- TP audit defence and tax authority engagement including APA strategy and implementation as well as audit defence across multi jurisdictions and regions.
- Provide guidance and support to regional teams regarding transfer pricing issues, including reviewing and advising on intercompany agreements and strategically managing and steering TP audits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, and industry peers to stay abreast of developments and ensure the company's TP practices are aligned with industry standards and proactively identify and address potential risks and opportunities.
- Guide TP operational team in Powai to optimise its effectiveness through appropriate deployment of tools, technology etc.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry best practices.
- TP documentation including local file reports but also benchmarking, fact finding and policy rationale.
Requirements:
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong TP technical capabilities who can demonstrate leadership skills with a practical mindset and a proven track record of managing and implementing complex transfer pricing projects across multi-functional teams.
- Minimum Degree from an accredited University.
- Experience in Transfer Pricing within a financial institution or an international accounting firm with a focus in the Financial Services industry.
- Experience in transfer pricing principles, methodologies, regulations, international tax such as Corporate Tax and Indirect Tax and transfer pricing principles across multiple tax jurisdictions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing transfer pricing strategies that align with business objectives and comply with tax regulations.
- Proven track records of proactive management of TP risks through APA or MAP negotiations with experience in TP audit.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex transfer pricing issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex transfer pricing concepts to non-tax professionals and collaborate across multi functional and a diverse teams to deliver effective solutions for the Firm.
