Role outline:
Job Title: Head of ASLAN (Homelessness Ministry)
Salary: £41,416 (inclusive of £6,549 London Living Allowance)
Department: All Souls Serve the City
Location: All Souls Clubhouse, 141 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 6QG
Hours: 5 days per week (Requires usually working on Saturday or Sunday and occasional evenings)
Probationary period: 3 months
Annual leave: 25 days per year
About All Souls Serve the City:
All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) which began in 2021 and is based at All Souls Church. ASSTC brings together a number of long-standing ministries serving those who are vulnerable. Our vision is to see all in London flourish in body and soul. We do this by offering the message and ministry of Jesus, focusing on those who are isolated, overlooked and exploited, due to their stage of life or their circumstances.
About ASLAN:
To those affected by homelessness, ASLAN (All Souls Local Action Network) offers individualised care, support and friendship. ASLAN, formed in 1988, runs a variety of initiatives including serving a hot breakfast every Saturday morning, providing a gospel talk, and offering showers, clean clothes and companionship; visiting people where they sleep, starting with those on our front steps; and a befriending programme that offers support, regular meals, and weekly Bible studies for those who're interested.
Role Details:
- Oversees the vision and strategy of ASLAN
- Provides leadership for all aspects of the ministry including maintaining a healthy work culture, the line management of direct reports, financial management, fundraising, partnership development and guest/client data collection and reporting
- Oversees the outreach and supervision of all guest/client work including the pastoral care and support of guests, team leaders and volunteers (also called serving partners)
Leadership of the Ministry:
- Takes responsibility for leading by example and maintaining a healthy work culture, including among relationships within the ASLAN team and between the team and volunteers
- Line manages any ASLAN staff such that they have adequate training and support to carry out their duties, which includes regular one-to-ones, appraisals and objective setting
- Ensures that all safeguarding concerns are being reported to the Parish Safeguarding Officer and oversees appropriate safeguarding and pastoral care follow-up

- Acts as a representative of ASLAN and ASSTC within All Souls and beyond, including leading team meetings and prayer times, as required
Person Specification:
Essential:
- University graduate or equivalent
- Excellent administrative, analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and pastoral care experience
- Strong team leadership skills with experience of managing staff
- Experience of working or volunteering within the sector
- Experience of recruiting, managing and training volunteers from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing to people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
- Experience of project management
- IT & word processing skills (Google docs, Apple, MS word, excel, powerpoint)
- Whole life disciple wanting to know Christ more and grow in grace, obedience and Christ-likeness themselves
- Having a servant heart and seeking to live a life of Christian integrity
- Committed evangelical Christian in full sympathy with the vision, mission and values of ASSTC, All Souls Church and the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith
- Proactive, with the ability to draw out the gifts of others and delegate as well
- Excellent organisational and time management skills which demonstrate an attention to detail, an ability to prioritise, an ability to follow-through, and an ability to balance the demands of the role
- Ability to self-reflect and be aware of one's own boundaries
- Resilient, with an ability to handle pressured situations with calm, tact and wisdom
- Committed to self care and pursuing a healthy work-life rhythm
- A flexible team player
Desirable:
- Experience with safeguarding reporting and the follow up of concerns
- Lives within London (in one of its 32 local authorities or in the City of London)
- Is willing to become an active member of All Souls Church
