About the job

The Head of Business Development at Seabird Technologies will be responsible for leading the company's B2B commercial strategy, with a key focus on building an early sales pipeline and driving go-to-market (GTM) execution. This is a critical role for a company at the prototype stage, requiring a strategic leader to create early customer conversations and form partnerships that will lay the foundation for future market success.

You will drive the commercial roadmap, including the development of competitive pricing models, early-stage lead generation, and strategic partnerships. Collaborating closely with the Head of Marketing, you will ensure a cohesive GTM strategy that effectively positions Seabird's electric, sustainable marine technologies in the market. This partnership will be essential to activating marketing efforts and ensuring brand visibility as the product approaches market readiness.

Leveraging your network within the marine industry, you will focus on building relationships with potential customers and industry stakeholders, promoting Seabird's innovative electric solutions that align with sustainability goals. Your work will directly support the company's market entry and growth objectives, ensuring that the commercial strategy, GTM efforts, and sales pipeline are seamlessly integrated.

This role requires collaboration with technical teams to align product development with market demand and with finance teams to ensure accurate sales forecasting and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a commercial strategy that focuses on building an early sales pipeline and driving revenue growth.
  • Lead the go-to-market strategy in collaboration with the Head of Marketing, ensuring product-market fit, brand representation, and successful market entry.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential customers and partners to establish a strong foundation for future contracts, leveraging your network in the marine industry.
  • Create and implement competitive and profitable pricing models for the company's electric and sustainable solutions.
  • Oversee lead generation, qualification, and early-stage sales, ensuring a focus on building a high-value contract pipeline.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure product development aligns with customer needs and market demand.
  • Collaborate with finance to develop sales forecasts, financial models, and budgets that support commercial growth.
  • Promote Seabird's sustainable, electric marine technology solutions and represent the company in industry events and discussions.

About you

  • 5+ years of experience developing and leading B2B commercial and pricing strategies in a technology-driven or marine-related industry.
  • Proven success in building early sales pipelines and leading commercial efforts, particularly in companies at the early or prototype stage.
  • Strong track record of collaborating with marketing teams to activate go-to-market strategies that drive brand visibility and sales performance.
  • Significant experience in market entry strategies, including market research, competitor analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge and network within the marine industry, with the ability to leverage relationships for early-stage customer and partner development.
  • Experience working with electric or sustainable technologies, with a passion for promoting environmentally responsible solutions.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to partner with finance teams on sales forecasting and budget planning.
  • Based in the UK with the ability to travel nationally and internationally.
