We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Civil Engineering to lead and manage marine civil engineering projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and timely delivery. As a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE), you'll leverage your expertise in Marine Civil Engineering and Project Management to drive success.

What you will be doing:

As our Head of Civil Engineering, you will take the lead in delivering and driving the growth of our maritime civil engineering service line. In this pivotal role, you will shape and expand our service offerings across Europe, while identifying and capturing strategic opportunities to ensure sustainable growth.

Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with counterparts across our global network to foster synergies and deliver exceptional solutions for our clients. In addition, you will:

  • Prepare tenders and proposals about Civil Engineering services offered.
  • Plan execution of projects including scope, deliverables and schedule manpower resources. Oversee progress and deliverables for projects.
  • Implement and continuously improve work processes to deliver excellence.
  • Support the Regional Management team in growing the Business.
  • Ensure all operations, deliverables and quality of reports are under approved instructions, and ABL procedures and policies.
  • Maintain and develop new and existing clients through appropriate propositions and relevant liaison to optimize quality of service, business growth and client satisfaction - raising commercial awareness.
  • Conducting P&I and other casualty work.
  • Conducting of Maritime Projects.
  • Abide by specific internally established control systems and authorities, to lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with applicable laws and the Company's standards and policies including its QHSE policies.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by management and client.
  • Provide training, mentoring and motivation to subordinates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The role is based in London, UK and the candidate should have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Ability to work remotely as required with some onsite attendance and time with clients. Flexibility to working hours may be required.


What we are looking for:

We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills to inspire and guide the team, a strategic mindset to drive growth and innovation, and deep technical expertise in maritime civil engineering. Your ability to collaborate effectively across global networks and build lasting client relationships will be essential in delivering exceptional solutions and expanding our service lines. In addition, you should have:

  • CEng MICE.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience with at least 5 years of hands-on experience as Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Marine Civil Engineering, Project Management, etc.
  • Contract Management with exposure to the maritime insurance & legal sector.
  • Solid understanding of Civil Engineering philosophies.
  • Able to translate thoughts into well-written documents.
  • Technically and commercially astute.
  • High level of competency in written English to produce complex technical reports and appraisals.
  • Delivered public presentations.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients.
