About Proxima Fusion: Proxima Fusion is a European startup focused on designing and building power plants based on the QI stellarator approach to magnetic confinement fusion. As the first-ever spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Proxima Fusion is leading Europe into a new era of clean energy, for good.
Role Overview: The Head of Communications will lead the strategic direction and execution of all communication and marketing efforts at Proxima Fusion. This role demands a holistic approach to enhance the company's brand, manage its public image, and effectively communicate its groundbreaking technology to various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will work closely with the public policy and government relations team and support the CEO in investor relations. Familiarity with the German language is advantageous but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communications:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote Proxima Fusion's mission, vision, and technological advancements.
Craft and disseminate key messages across multiple platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with the company's goals.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to secure positive coverage and manage the company's public image.
Handle crisis communications and develop proactive strategies to address potential public relations challenges.
Lead the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, and presentations.
Ensure all content is scientifically accurate, engaging, and accessible to a diverse audience. - Marketing Leadership:
Design and execute marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive engagement with key audiences, including potential customers, partners, and the general public.
Oversee digital marketing efforts, including social media, content marketing, SEO, and online advertising, together with a dedicated digital comms expert within the team. - Collaboration with Public Policy & Government Relations:
Work closely with the public policy and government relations team to align communication efforts with regulatory and legislative priorities.
Develop communication materials to support policy advocacy and government outreach initiatives. - Event Management:
Plan and execute company events, including press conferences, industry conferences, product launches, and investor meetings.
Represent Proxima Fusion at industry events, trade shows, and public forums.
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of experience in a senior communications or marketing role, preferably within the technology or energy sector.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
- Experience in media relations, public relations, and crisis communication.
- Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques, including social media management and content marketing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with the German language is a plus, but not required.
- Passion for clean energy and a commitment to Proxima Fusion's mission.
