Head of Compliance

Role overview
This is an important privacy and compliance role supporting our UK business on a wide range of projects with a diverse client base including popular social media platforms, luxury fashion brands, global food and drink brands, consumer goods, media agencies and owners, government departments, banks and healthcare providers to name a few.
What will I be doing?
- Working with Ipsos UK's Compliance Department, the UK Legal Team, Business Excellence (BES) network from across the business, the UK Management Board and Business Leaders, Ipsos Global Internal Audit, Quality, Security, Legal and Privacy teams to help ensure compliance with all applicable UK and global data protection, e-privacy, information security and compliance requirements.
- Lead and direct the UK's Compliance Team.
- Work with the UK's senior management to define, plan and roll out the UK's Compliance annual objectives.
- Provide operational support, advice and guidance as a compliance and data protection specialist within the UK business.
- Review and negotiate relevant clauses and/or policies in client agreements. This will involve attending client calls from time to time.
- Management and overseeing, development and maintenance of privacy, information security, quality and compliance policies, procedures and working practices.
- Completion of client compliance, privacy and information security questionnaires and support for client site audits, calls and queries.
- Oversee and contribute to the development and delivery of the BES training and communications programme to help ensure all employees are aware of and understand their privacy, quality, compliance and information security responsibilities.
- Keep abreast of updates in relevant legislation such as the UK data protection framework and ensure that any changes are made to guidance, training and templates.
- Management of subject access requests, together with any other privacy, compliance and quality related requests, complaints or incidents coming into Ipsos in the UK.
- Oversee and ensure that risk assessments, spot checks, supplier audits, internal and external audits along with management reporting are carried out and the necessary actions taken.
- Any other tasks reasonably required to support the business.
What do I need to bring with me?
- Relevant experience and academic and/or professional qualifications in data protection legislation (UK and/or EU), the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and other relevant areas.
- Experience in the market research industry is desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of UK and/or EU data protection laws and practices.
- Experience working as a Data Protection Officer is desirable.
- Knowledge and/or experience in quality, environmental and/or information security management systems would be advantageous.
- Experience working with external clients, suppliers, staff at all levels and including very senior management.
- Ability to design, contribute and deliver training to staff on key requirements.
- Ability to draft written reports and provide oral briefings.
- Approachable, outgoing personality with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude, able to manage change and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
- Strong writing skills and an eye for detail.

- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
